Amber McLain

Amber McClain

Happy, laughter-filled, family-centered, loving, resilient

A “people person” Amber, aka “Amo,” lived a life dedicated to spreading joy and making those around her smile, laugh, and feel valued. With a contagious laugh that could be heard above a crowd and an infectious smile, Amber’s goal was to be happy and to brighten the days of everyone she encountered. She valued family over everything, and relished spending time with the people she loved. Amber’s nephews, Jayden, and Kayzen held a special place in her heart, and she loved them as her own.

As a “people person” Amber thrived in customer service roles, effortlessly connecting with anyone she met. Her close-knit relationships with friends and family were a testament to her kind and compassionate nature. She made sure everyone knew they were loved. A kind and patient listener, Amber could be counted on to lend a helping hand. She had a passion for music and writing, and was always up for going for a drive just to listen to music.

One cherished memory shared by her friend, Amanda, was the time they got stuck in a gas station car wash. They had to call Amber’s grandfather to rescue them, while Amber’s nephew slept peacefully in the back seat, oblivious to the commotion.

Despite her own life challenges, Amber was close to her siblings and held onto her dream of becoming a mother one day. Birthdays, hers and others, were a big deal for Amber and were celebrated with enthusiasm.

Amber’s life took a difficult turn when she became involved with drugs. Her friend Amanda stated, “Watching her struggle with addiction was one of the hardest things I have experienced.” The experience brought awareness that addiction can affect anyone. Amanda now works in the addiction treatment field and says, “Amber’s memory drives my passion to help.”

Despite struggling with addiction for eight years, Amber’s spirit remained unbroken. Her determination to overcome her challenges inspired those around her. Amber’s passing at 30 left a gaping hole in the lives of those who loved her. In a selfless act. Amber had chosen to be an organ donor, transforming the lives of several individuals.

“She was a force to be reckoned with,” Amanda shared. “Having Amber in your life was indescribable.” She will be remembered for the happy, laughter-filled, family-centered, loving woman that she was.

Amber’s best friend, Amanda Tervort, provided the information for this narrative.
