Cory Butler

Cory Butler

Fun-loving, easy-going,
caring, loved the water

Cory, as he was called by family and friends, grew up in Pasadena where he was raised by his mother Linda Fults. He has two sisters, Karen and Kristie.

When he was young he enjoyed playing baseball, starting with Little League and later he played in some recreational leagues.

He really loved sailing and spent as much time as he could in the summer at his aunt and uncle’s home on the Magothy River. “He just loved the water, boating and the beach; including body surfing,” said his sister, Kristie.

Cory collected baseball cards when he was a young boy and enjoyed looking at them with his sisters at the kitchen table. He had a kind soul and would give anyone the shirt off his back.

He got caught up with the wrong crowd in high school and started abusing alcohol, eventually leading to other addictive substances, which he lived with for a little more than 20 years.

Cory was intelligent and had the ability to do most anything he wanted to do. He was close to his family, spending many a Friday night with his sister, Karen, at the skating rink.

His passing has been difficult for his family. His sister, Kristie, wanted to participate in this project to do something positive for her brother.

Kristie Butler, Cory’s sister, provided information for this profile.
