Charismatic, loving, deep thinker, electric, beautiful personality
Mo is remembered by her best friend, Jessica Gordon, as down-to-earth, funny, loving, and caring—someone who was always there and always had a way with words. She spent time fishing, writing, playing video games, and helping others. Mo especially loved being with her son, Elijah Lucas Yow. She was focused on recovery and getting him back in her life.
After graduating from high school, Mo worked as a forklift driver. She was in a relationship with Victoria McEver. Mo shared holidays with family and friends at gatherings at Randy’s. She is connected in memory to her father, Shane, her mother, Tiffany, and her brother, Logan—each of whom also died from substance use disorder.
Mo was integral to her recovery community. Those who knew her from treatment recall that “treatment days were always better when she was around.” She was someone people turned to when they were struggling and needed someone to talk to.
In her later years, Mo became more distant and did not always reach out. Jessica, who was in active addiction with her and got sober alongside her, said, “Mo slipped up one time and died.” She felt helpless in helping her best friend.
Mo’s life continues to shape those who loved her. In the wake of her death, Jessica started a support group and became a Certified Peer Specialist-Addictive Disease (CPS-AD), working to support others facing substance use disorder.
Jessica describes Mo as “charismatic, loving, a deep thinker, electric, with a beautiful personality.” She is missed for everything—her smile, her laugh, and the long talks they shared.
